A parcel of urban green space...is threatened with development by The University in Waterloo, Texas. John Valshen, a general ne'er-do-well, learns of the imminent closing and redevelopment of his beloved public golf course. Inspired to action, John plots to prevent the overhaul of the land with help from his girlfriend Nike Driew and his lawyer and golf buddy Douglas Mueller.
Can the bulldozers and condo moguls be stopped, or will the heart of the city be paved over for the powers that be? Pursued by his overzealous probation officer, Robert Jarvis, John rallies citizens, students, and scientists toward a common cause -- preserving Lions Municipal. |
There’s more to this planet
Than your next government score. -- John Valshen I can’t deny the darkness closes in. I’d rather shake foundations making my departure. The cold and timid exit is a sin. -- Nike Driew Their plans for the green-space are well-known, And it’s clear that a sheer glass veneer Will replace Mother Nature’s great glories On a spine of industrial steel. -- Freddy (a graduate student in biological science) |
Tom:
Developments come and there’s no turning back. I can’t believe that you’re on the attack. Things always change; that’s what life is about. Honestly Ben, you’ll just squander your clout. Ben: Tom, you didn’t mean that. You’ve signed for the wrong team. You were a kid once. Now you won’t let them dream. -- Golf legends |
